Lacking the one thing Needful

In Luke 18:18-40, the theme of “One Thing” Lacking is profound, emphasizing deficiencies in spiritual fulfillment, particularly concerning adherence to the Law. The text presents a contrast between lack—characterized by inadequacy, deficiency, and a needful state—and abundance, highlighting that only the Lord Jesus embodies sufficiency, mercy, and grace. It stresses the human inability to reach holiness and righteousness, noting that individuals have "fallen short" and are "wanting and needful." The message is clear: to overcome this lack, one must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, follow Him, and permit Him to work the impossible within oneself. Ultimately, the text calls for a commitment to stop lacking and to embrace the transformative power of faith in Christ.
